Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about teaching in China

What documents do I need to teach in China?

Typically you'll need: A valid passport, bachelor's degree (or higher), teaching qualification (TEFL/TESOL preferred), clean criminal background check, and health certificate. We'll guide you through the entire process.

Do you help with visa applications?

Yes! We assist with the entire visa process. Most teachers come on a Z (work) visa. We work with your employing school to ensure all documents are prepared correctly for a smooth visa application.

What salary can I expect?

Salaries vary by city, school type, and experience. Generally: ESL teachers earn 15,000-30,000 RMB/month, subject teachers at international schools earn 25,000-50,000 RMB/month. Many schools also provide housing, flights, and insurance.

Do you help with housing?

Most schools provide housing or housing allowances. We can help you understand what's included in your package. If you need to find your own housing, we can connect you with resources in your target city.

How long does the process take?

Typically 2-8 weeks from application to starting your job. This includes interview, offer, visa processing, and travel arrangements. Some positions can be faster if you're already in China.

Is there a fee for teachers?

No — Eastbound's services are completely free for teachers. We are paid by the hiring schools, not by job seekers. You'll never pay anything to use our recruitment service.
